Finally owners of standard Cleveland rocker gear and / or aftermarket bolt on standard pedestal type Cleveland roller rockers; can now order CHI heads with factory style rocker pedestals. This makes CHI heads even more affordable then ever. No longer do you need to buy roller rockers or convert to screw in studs and guide plates with alloy heads. Our STD pedestal mounts come fitted with 5/16UNC helicoils, for the ultimate in strength and fatigue resistance. Best of all CHI will custom machine your new cylinder heads to suit standard pedestals at no extra charge.

This complete Street cylinder head package comes with Ferrea 5000 series, stainless steel valves with hard chromed stems. We use Isky Chrome-Molly-7 Degree Retainers, Isky Machined Valve Locks (not the cheaper stamped steel versions), and Isky 805-DO valve springs.
 
This package is ideal for hydraulic camshafts to 230@.050 with.570"lift, or small solids up to 230@.050and .570"lift that are street driven regularly. Heads are finished of with matching Isky hardened spring pad locators to positively locate the valve spring and Viton valve stem seals for unsurpassed oil control. $2000
 
This package is ideal for large solid cams of up to .625" lift (be sure to subtract valve lash from your camshaft specs when determining net valve lift), and is ideal for the serious street car that is raced on the odd occasion. Heads are finished of with matching Isky hardened spring pad locators to positively locate the valve spring and Viton valve stem seals for unsurpassed oil control. Owners of raised dome, high compression pistons to suit 4V closed chamber heads, can now order CHI heads with a 4V CNC chamber. Our 4V CNC chambers are 74cc in volume and retain our relocated spark plug location. These can also be ordered as an option by people that require increased chamber volumes for blown or stroker applications. The need to replace those high compression 4V pistons is now a thing of the past.  ADD $100

Competition Roller Cam cylinder head package comes with Ferrea Competition Plus series swirl polished stainless steel valves with hard chromed stems. We use Manley Titanium 10 Degree Retainers, Manley Machined 10 Degree Valve Locks and Manley Nextek 221424 Competition Roller valve springs. This package is ideal for large roller cams of up to .800" valve lift , that are drag - road raced on a regular basis. Heads are finished of with matching Manley hardened spring pad locators to positively locate the valve spring and Viton valve stem seals for unsurpassed oil control.

 CHI 3V 185cc heads to suit 302 Windsor block with the CHI 3V185 8.2"W manifold. These heads have the Windsor accessory mounting holes added in the ends of the heads (see circled bolt holes in the photo), allowing the use of all the standard Windsor accessories ie: alternator- air conditioning- power steering pumps etc, of the front of the engine.

Heads also come with water out passages in the front of the intake manifold flange (see  photo) to match the CHI 8.2" 3V 185cc manifold. When combined with the intake manifold these make a 302W Boss conversion as simple as can be.

CHI's water-crossover / bypass housing is the perfect accessory for our new range of inlet manifolds, allowing you to easily convert your 8.2" & 9.5" deck Windsor engines into an all conquering BOSS power plant. Designed to replace the integral water passage and thermostat housing used on Windsor intake manifolds, our water crossover redirects the water out of the front of your CHI - Cleveland - Yates Cylinder heads, and conveniently relocates the thermostat housing horizontally above the original Windsor position.

Our kit comes complete with all the necessary hardware (fittings, hose, hose clamps and mounting studs) to make the installation as simple as possible. The housings are heat treated for longevity, providing our customers with many years of trouble free service.

Installation is accomplished by removing the 2 top bolts of your Windsor timing cover and replacing them with the provided studs, on which the thermostat housing will be located. Any customer's pre ordering cylinder heads and manifolds to suit Windsor blocks, will have their cylinder heads drilled and tapped for our water crossover - bypass housing, from CHI at no extra cost. "

Q : Why are the heads called 3V heads?
Ans : The heads were given the name 3V, as they have the airflow potential of the 4V head with ports the size of a 2V head. So with the airflow of a 4V and the airspeed of a 2V we thought the title 3V fitted well.

Q : What spark plug type do the heads take?
Ans : Our heads take a ¾ inch reach 14x1.25MM thread, flat seat type spark plug. A good starting point is the NGK BCP6ES or equivalent style plug.

Q : How many CCs are the combustion chambers?
Ans : Our chambers are usually around the 66-67cc range. If a smaller chamber volume is required the heads can be ordered to suit individual requirements, and will be machined free of charge to the required chamber volume.

Q : What type of headers do the heads take?
Ans : Our 3V 218cc & 250cc cylinder heads are designed to work with 4V headers. Although 2V headers will bolt up, they will require port matching for a proper fit. Our 3V185cc heads, and our 2V and 4V heads all come with our "Uni" exhaust port which allows the use of either 2V or 4V headers.
Our 3V 218cc & 250cc exhaust port also has a .420" raised exhaust port location. On the engine at 45 degrees this will move the headers up .210" and outwards .210". To compensate for this, all heads now come with the exhaust flange machined on a 5/8 degree angle, leaning the exhaust face in towards the bottom, to offset the effect of the raised exhaust port.
All heads can be specially ordered, with either the raised ex port or with the standard height ex port height at no extra charge.

Q : Do the heads have all the standard accessory bolt holes on the ends?
Ans : Our heads feature all standard Cleveland accessory mounting holes, and as of Nov 2005 will also feature all factory Windsor accessory mounting holes as well, making Clevor - Boss conversions easier than ever before.

Q : How tall are the 3V manifolds?
Ans : Our 3V manifolds to suit a 9.2" Cleveland block are 7.200" tall whilst 3V manifolds to suit a 9.5" deck Windsor height, are 7.500".
Our 8.200" 302W manifold is 6.375" tall.
All manifolds can be machined down by -.875" for extra hood clearance at no extra charge.

Q : Will the heads take standard head bolts?
Ans : Yes our 2V, 4V and 3V 185cc cylinder heads all come with standard height bolt pads. Our 3V 218cc & 250cc heads will need a .500" longer head bolt on the exhaust side only. However a standard Cleveland stud kit can be used with our 3V 218cc & 250cc heads, by not winding the stud all the way into its head bolt hole. This is safe to do with a stud, as the studs have far more thread engagement in the block than a head bolt does, so winding them out a few turns still results in them having equal or more thread engagement than a bolt would have.

The inaugural and subsequent Engine Masters Challenges have been the perfect platform for the development of quality Street & Strip combinations and parts for the serious engine builder and or street car enthusiast.
For Dave Storliens Clevor to produce the awesome figures of 605hp and 530ft/lb of torque on pump gas at the inaugural 2002 challenge , extensive research and testing was required on the inlet manifold. During testing it became apparent that there was a lack of quality “street manifolds” that were up to the task, without the need for extensive re-working.  Over 100hrs was spent testing and modifying a variety of different manifolds in order to evaluate the best cross sectional area – velocity - fuel atomisation characteristics, before a final design was set upon.
After completing the EM185 cylinder head we set upon making manifolds to suit both our 3V-EM185cc and 3V-218cc cylinder heads. Incorporating all the features of the successful Engine Masters manifold, the all new CHI 3V range of manifolds will suit 9.2” Cleveland blocks, whilst Windsor owners will also be able to convert their 351(9.5’deck) and 302 (8.2” deck) Windsor’s into a CHI BOSS ground movers. Coupled with our CHI water crossover - bypass housing, our package will breath new life into your 302 and  351 Windsors.
Last years Big Block Engine masters Challenge was one by Legendary IHRA  Ford engine Builder Jon Kaase. Jon’s engines have won the last 4 IHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock titles, set world records, and his name appears on no fewer than 18 IHRA Pro Stock cars.  Testimony to the quality and performance advantage offered by CHI heads and manifolds can be witnessed by the fact that Jon Kaase has chosen CHI as his cylinder head and manifold of choice for this years Engine Masters Competition.
All CHI inlet manifolds are made from the same A356 aluminium as our cylinder heads, but unlike other manufacturers, CHI”s manifolds are heat treated to T-6 for the ultimate in durability.
