12499120 - Ram Jet 350
$5450
You may recall the Ram Jet brand from the GM mechanical fuel injection systems of the 1950's. Back then everyone wanted a "fuelie" and today that's even more true. GM Performance Parts has brought back the Ram Jet name with its all new electronic port fuel injection systems for both small-block and big-block Chevy crate engines. The small-block Ram Jet 350's intake manifold is styled like the Ram Jet of yesterday, but that is where the similarity ends. The all new Ram jet 350 uses state of the art components developed by GM to give you all of the benefits of modern electronic engine management. Who better to fuel inject your hot rod than the people who build 5 million fuel injected cars and trucks per year, including the one in your driveway. Unlike some aftermarket systems, Ram Jet offers great cold starts, hot starts, always ideal air to fuel ratios and exceptional throttle response, power and driveabilty. The all new 350 horsepower Ram Jet 350 from GMPP makes it easy to have electronic fuel injection on any vehicle originally equipped with a carburetor. The secret is the industry leading MEFI controller. This new controller fits in the palm of your hand and was originally developed by GM Powertrain for marine applications. MEFI 3 is ideally suited for use in street rods, street machines and sportsman racers. Installation is simple, the Ram Jet 350 is an assembled 350 crate engine with Vortec heads, Ram Jet induction system, wiring harness, MEFI 4 controller, and detailed instructions. Will require recalibration for 383 application (See Tool). Once installed in the vehicle, a user needs only to supply 12V power and fuel. Please note the fuel pump recommendations in the Ram Jet instruction manual. The Ram Jet 350 has it all, great nostalgic styling, drivability unsurpassed by carburetors or aftermarket fuel injection, power to spare and a hot rod idle that sounds like Woodward Avenue in 1969 all over again ! GM Performance Parts is "More Than Just Power" and once you've driven a Ram Jet you'll understand why. The 350 HO is not intended for marine use, and should only be used in 1973 and earlier pre-emissions street vehicles or any year off road vehicles.

Modified to 383. ADD $1600 Will require computer reprogramimg $350
These brand new engines are dismantled, lightly honed with a torque plate.
The crankshaft is replaced with an aftermarket Hi-Nodular Iron 383 unit.
The pistons are replaced with Speed-Pro 383 Hypereutectic Pistons either flat top H600CP (76cc = 9.3:1) or dished H602CP(76cc = 8.7:1) for lower compression. Other piston options are available.
The 5.70" GM rods are reused. Upgrades are available.
The rotating assembly is balanced.
The engine is then reassembled with a 400 harmonic balancer and flexplate (a flywheel option is available at addition expense).
A camshaft change is available in a variety durations to fit your application $200
Below is information about buying the RamJet Fuel Injection System, so you can use it on another motor. It isn't cheap at $3000, I'd recommend an Aceel Super Ram before this system, but if you want it, I can provide them...
However you might consider buying the engine above which is a good price, and upgrading to a set of AFR 195cc heads. This will give you a real boost in performance, and you get the RamJet with the distributor for about $2400, buying it with above the motor.
The combined price would be about $6600 Turnkey.
Ram Jet Fuel Injection Kit, Less Electronics Part # 12498032 $1450
This retro-fit fuel injection kit is released for use on small-block V8 engine using vortec design cylinder heads. The vortec heads are P/N 12558060 iron or 12464298 aluminum.
This fuel injection unit must use an Accel ECM (NOT the MEFI 4 used with the crate engine above) and wiring harness with the proper calibration see below.
Technical Notes: This kit includes these major items plus brackets, sensors, bolts, nuts, gaskets, and other small parts. It does not include ECM or wiring harness.

Part # 77040 $1500
Features & Benefits
F: Water-resistant enclosure and main harness connections offer options in mounting location for the Gen VII Electronic Control unit.
B: Can be mounted in the passenger compartment or under hood.
F: New electronic circuitry design with noise-hardened protection
B: Each circuit is protected against damage caused from short circuits or wiring that rubs through the insulation in the harness, eliminating costly repairs and keeping the smoke inside the ECU where it belongs.
F: All-new CALMAP 2001 PC windows-driven calibration software
B: Provides fast, user-friendly access to all fuel and ignition related tables
F: New Volumetric Efficiency-based fuel tables
B: Offers increased resolution and control. Volumetric Efficiency tables can be adjusted a single point at a time, a portion at a time, or completely increased or decreased by a percentage with a few strokes of CALMAP 2001 software. This vastly improves time needed to calibrate your Volumetric Efficiency map. (Volumetric Efficiency maps are the main fueling tables in CALMAP 2001)
F: CALMAP 2001 offers a Volumetric Efficiency (Main Fueling Table) Estimator.
B: This function allows the starting point of your Volumetric Efficiency table to be calculated by CALMAP 2001. Simply answer the questions CALMAP 2001 asks you about your engine, and CALMAP 2001 will give you a calculated Volumetric Efficiency Table as your starting point. No more "wild guesses" to determine start-up fueling.
F: Software Selectable Fuel Injection Modes.
B: With CALMAP 2001 the Gen VII ECU can fire the fuel injectors in the following modes. Sequential, Bank-to-Bank, Batch, or Staged Batch. Sequential is only recommended if the Gen VII ECU is provided with a cam position signal.
F: In Sequential mode, CALMAP 2001 allows the adjustment of fuel injector timing in relation to cam position.
B: Increased power output, lower emissions, and improved driveability.
F: Individual Cylinder Fuel Trim is possible in all modes of injector operation.
B: This function is used to compensate for intake manifold distribution inadequacies, poorly matched injectors, or a combination of both.
F: Gen VII has Self Diagnostic Capability with a provision for a Malfunction Indicator Lamp.
B: CALMAP 2001 will display what the trouble code is and what action the Gen VII ECU is taking because of the trouble being sensed. A Malfunction Indicator Lamp can also be incorporated which will flash the number of the trouble code
F: Every Gen VII ECU has the capability of operating up to 3 stages of Nitrous Oxide.
B: Gen VII can calculate the amount of fuel enrichment for each stage, and allows the end user to trim fuel enrichment and ignition timing retard throughout the RPM range that the nitrous will be energized.
F: New graphical "on-line" high-speed data recording for up to 30 minutes of data recovery.
B: Data recordings can be replayed in real time, can be stepped through point by point, and can also be replayed in the Volumetric Efficiency table.
F: Every Gen VII ECU has internal altitude sensing and compensation capability.
B: This function improves power, driveability and fuel economy on vehicles when they are driven to different altitudes.
F: Linear or so-called "Wide Band" O2 capability.
B: This option allows closed loop control at all conditions and allows the end user to select the air/fuel ratios that are desired at different rpm/load points.
F: Gen VII offers two separate rev-limiters. One is an ignition rev-limiter, the other is a fuel shut-off rev limiter.
B: The ignition rev-limiter can be wired through a trans-brake or line-lock button to act as a starting line rev-limiter. Both rev-limiters are adjustable in 50 rpm increments.
F: CALMAP 2001 offers "Help" screens.
B: If a user is unsure of a screen they are looking at, they can simply push the F1 key and a verbal description of the screen
being viewed will appear.
