PerTronix is pleased to announce the availability of our new billet distributor and replacement parts. This distributor is for small and big block Chevys, designed to provide maximum ignition performance and easy installation at a attractive price for all.

Enthusiasts can now upgrade their point style or stock electronic distributor with a performance –proven distributor that features the patented Ignitor II® electronic ignition module. The Ignitor II® module features the latest Hall Effect technology combined with a microprocessor. The microprocessor allows the Ignitor II® module to adjust dwell angle to maintain peak energy throughout the entire RPM range. The distributor housing is CNC machined from 6061 T-6 alloy aluminum and is polished to a beautiful finish.

• The housing and deck are CNC machined holding a tolerance of +0.000 to –0.003
• Tempered .500” shaft has low torsion displacement for more accurate timing and longevity
• A top roller bearing and lower self lubricating oil impregnated bronze sintered bushing reduces friction and high RPM vibration

 Flame-Thrower® HEI Performance Distributors

PerTronix announces the availability of their Flame-Thrower® HEI performance distributors for Chevy, Olds, Pontiac and Ford V8 applications. According to PerTronix, these units use new components (not remanufactured) and feature a specially engineered module and coil combination that operates without misfires up to a minimum of 7500 RPM, nearly 3000 RPM higher than most enthusiasts report with their original HEI.

Compared to the stock HEI, PerTronix claims their units will produce 67% more energy in the coil with 45% faster spark breakdown time and deliver twice the energy across the spark gap. PerTronix testing shows that spark duration and more energy to the spark allow wider plug gaps (.050”-.055”) increasing flame kernel growth for more efficient combustion.

PerTronix distributors are supplied with a high dielectric strength cap with solid brass terminals, a balanced rotor and low resistance center coil brush, nylon rotor hold-down screws, adjustable ignition vacuum advance and a factory installed high performance mechanical curve kit with precision stamped weights and center plate.

Each distributor uses a new aluminum housing cast and machined from strong but lightweight A384 alloy. High quality bronze sintered bushings are installed and aligned bored for accuracy and extended mileage use. A centerless ground corrosion resistant shaft reduces friction and provides concentric operation. The hardened steel distributor gear is machined to exact tolerances for a tighter mesh with the cam gear eliminating horsepower losses caused by timing fluctuations found with excessive clearance and wear..

PerTronix is pleased to announce the offering of new our Flame-Thrower® billet distributor for Fords. This distributor is the first of three new distributors, one for each of the Ford V-8 engine families. At this time we now have billet distributors available for the 221 through 302 CID engines.

 Flame-Thrower® HEI Performance Distributors

PerTronix announces the availability of their Flame-Thrower HEI performance distributor for Ford 221-302 V8 applications. Their new distributor is available in a machined finish with either a blue (D1352) or black (D1350) cap and is 50 state legal CARB E.O. #D-57-11.

According to PerTronix, these units use new components (not remanufactured) and feature a specially engineered module and coil combination that operates without misfires up to a minimum of 7500 RPM, nearly 3000 RPM higher than most enthusiasts report with their original Ford electronic ignition systems. Because the module is in the distributor and the coil is in the cap, the PerTronix unit eliminates most of the wiring found on stock Ford systems, cleaning up the engine compartment. An optional tach output hookup is also provided.

Each distributor uses a new aluminum housing cast and machined from strong but lightweight A384 alloy. Distributors are supplied with a high dielectric strength cap with solid brass terminals, a balanced rotor and low resistance center coil brush, nylon rotor hold-down screws, adjustable ignition vacuum advance and a factory installed high performance mechanical curve kit with precision stamped weights and center plate. A “race only” version distributor is also now available.

 Flame-Thrower II Super Low Resistant Coils

PerTronix has announced a new addition to their line up of Flame-Thrower coils. A super low resistant (0.6 ohm) 45,000 volt rated application is now available in chrome or OEM black, oil filled for better cooling and voltage insulation, or a black epoxy version when extreme vibration is a factor.

While it’s the perfect coil to go with the new Ignitor II breakerless ignition, their new coil can benefit virtually any distributor ignition system because the lower resistance and improved turns ratio produces the higher voltage needed to run larger spark plug gaps for added power and better fuel economy. The coil is also compatible with most capacitive discharge boxes including the popular MSD 6 or 7 series and Pertronix Second Strike ignition. Flame-Thrower II coils are 50 state legal and come with California Air Resources Board E.O. #D-57-10.

 Second Strike®…. Not just another ignition box!!

Second Strike is the only ignition system to provide a powerful second spark throughout the entire RPM range, unlike other multiple spark discharge systems, which typically drop off to one spark at about 3000 RPM. This micro controller based ignition supplements most inductive type systems (points, GM HEI, Ford TFI and Duraspark, Ignitor and Ignitor II) with a powerful capacitive discharge second spark resulting in more complete combustion of the fuel/air mixture. Increased burn time at very high RPM levels also reduces misfires resulting in more peak horsepower and torque. No special distributor or coil is required. A simple five-wire hookup to your existing system completes the installation.

Second Strike’s unique crank angle offset (CAO) feature permits you to time the second spark in crank angle degrees to occur after the primary spark with a simple external adjustment dial. A wide range of adjustment (2 to 18 degrees) allows you to experiment with the CAO that works best for your engine’s performance or your driving profile. The CAO feature can be operated while the engine is running to assist experimentation for optimum settings.

A digital rev limiter protects the engine from possible overrev condition. Their system combines both random and a sequential pattern of spark stealing to control RPM. Pertronix claims the benefit of random spark stealing is quicker response time to an over rev limit event while sequential stealing is less invasive to the engine because sparks are not completely dropped allowing the engine to ignite any unburned fuel to keep the cylinders clean and avoid damaging exhaust detonation. Second Strike comes standard with an output compatible with most modern tachometers requiring no interface adapters.
