| Combo 39.
Combo 39 comes from pages 87-93 of the Winter 2002 Camaro Performers.
Combo 39 uses a 391 stroker crank and Holley heads to make 453 HP and ft-lbs of torque. Some nice components are used in this combination. |

| Combo 41.
Combo 41 uses the same components from Combo 40 except the engine is 383 cu. in. and the intake is a regular Performer. Strangely, this combination makes 7 less HP than the previous example. Perhaps this can all be attributed to the RPM intake. The stroker engine does produce 39 more ft-lbs of torque, as is expected from the longer stroke. |

Combo 44 comes from page 3 of the August '98 small Summit catalog.
This engine is almost identical to Combo 19. Although less information is given, maybe this combo is still helpful. It uses a 383 cu. in. stroker engine with Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads. The roller cam is just a little more aggressive than the cam in Combo 19. |

Combo 46 comes from pages 25-29 of the March 1990 issue of Hot Rod Magazine.
Combo 46 uses a 420 cu. in. stroker small block. In the article, this engine is to be used as a sleeper engine for a 1985 Monte Carlo SS. The ignition is computerized, but an engine without a computer could probably see similar results. This engine produces 425 HP and 446 ft-lbs. |

Combos 47-52 come from pages 40-50 of the October 1990 Hot Rod Magazine. These six combos use a GM Goodwrench crate engine. The engine is first tested stock, and performance enhancements are done for each new combination.
Combo 47 is the stock run of the crate motor. The camshaft is low-performance, and the intake is cast-iron. With other stock components, this combo makes a meager 224 HP, but the engine produces a nice amount of torque (335 ft-lbs). |

Combos 53-54 come from pages 58-60 of the October 1990 Hot Rod Magazine. Back in 1990, these combos were two examples of the engines offered by American Speed. Both engines make some great power and torque.
Combo 53 uses rebuilt #993 GM heads with 2.02/1.60 in. valves. The camshaft is a healthy grind, with 234° of duration @ 0.050 in. of lift. This 355 cu. in. engine produces 421 HP and 438 ft-lbs of torque. |

Combo 54 uses a 383 cu. in. engine with rebuilt GM heads. Using 2.05/1.60 in. valves, this engine produces power over 500 HP. However, a very aggressive mechanical camshaft is used to make this power. Streetablity is a very questionable aspect of a cam with 316/323° of duration. |

Combos 55-62 come from pages 30-34 of the April 1991 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. All 8 combinations use the same 355 cu. in. block. Both stock and ported versions of the Dart SR (now the World Products S/R Torquer) are used on this engine. Also, different cams and rocker arm ratios are used to vary power and torque.
Combo 55 has Stock Dart SR heads, a 650 cfm carb, a 260° camshaft, and 1.5:1 rockers. This combo makes 305 HP and 381 ft-lbs of torque. |

| Combo 57.
Combo 57 goes back to 1.5:1 rocker ratios for both intake and exhaust. However, a more aggressive cam is used. Compared to Combo 55, with the same rockers, this combination produced 17 more HP and 5 less ft-lbs of torque. As cam duration grows, cylinder pressure drops. This decrease in pressure causes a decrease in force pushing the piston downward, and thus the torque is reduced. |

| Combo 58.
Combo 58 changes the rocker arm ratio of the exhaust valves in Combo 57. This exhaust rocker ratio increase creates 4 more HP and 2 more ft-lbs of torque. The increase here is not as pronounced as the difference between rocker ratios when the milder cam was used. Apparently the other cam was not letting the engine breathe as much as it wanted, and the extra exhaust lift really helped. Once the more aggressive cam was installed, the engine was breathing at a better level, and the rocker ratio change did not help as much.
Compared to the engine with the milder cam and 1.6:1 exhaust rockers, this combination made 15 more HP and 13 less ft-lbs of torque. |

Combo 60 uses 1.6:1 rockers on the exhaust valves, and this is the only difference from Combo 59. The increased lift produced 4 more HP and 2 more ft-lbs of torque. |

| Combo 61.
Combo 61 goes back to 1.5:1 rockers on the exhausts and uses the more aggressive camshaft. Compared to Combo 59, with the same rockers and the lower-performance cam, Combo 61 makes 24 more HP and the same amount of torque. As expected from the longer duration cam, both the torque and power peaks are 500 rpm higher than with the 260° cam. |
